Hay una forma sencilla de narrar la Historia de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. El esquema, trilladÃsimo y apto para cualquier consumidor, habla de una lucha del bien contra el mal. Los aliados eran los salvadores del mundo, enfrentado al demonio fascista. La lucha, absolutamente maniquea desde este punto de vista, se prolongó durante seis largos años, que culminaron en Europa con la batalla de BerlÃn y la celebración de la victoria el ocho de mayo de 1945, cuando cesaron las hostilidades en todo el Continente.
El resumen seguirÃa con la paz, que fue breve porque los dos grandes ganadores del conflicto se olvidaron de la barbarie por intereses del nuevo orden. Surgió la Guerra FrÃa y el telón de acero, con su representación palpable en el Muro de BerlÃn, dividió el Viejo Mundo en bloques antagónicos. Pero antes los vencedores juzgaron a los culpables de la contienda, criminales genocidas que nunca más participaron en polÃtica.
