Siempre he pensado que a la literatura de Alberto Olmos le faltaba algo para terminar de cuajar. En unos casos por estar demasiado cerca del mero divertimento (pienso en Tatami), en otros por falta de profundidad de campo (pienso en Trenes hacia Tokio), en otros por exceso de vocación museÃstica (pienso en El estatus). Quizás El estatus fuese a mi parecer su producto literario más logrado, una obra atemporal y cerrada en sà misma, un artefacto literario que funciona como una maquinaria de relojerÃa casi perfecta. Pareciera entonces que el mejor Alberto Olmos se manifestase precisamente cuando más se aleja de sà mismo.
